Tateshina Great Falls
A place to enjoy the great natural environment of the Tateshina highlands. The clear water and virgin forest create a dynamic contrast. According to legend, Takeda Shingen formulated his strategies while sitting under this water fall.

Mt. TateshinaShokoji Temple
Shokoji Temple was built in July 1970 with assistance from Toyota and its affiliated companies. It is the only temple in Japan for praying for traffic safety, holding memorials for victims of traffic accidents, and praying for the early recovery of the injured. Every July, the chairmen and president of Toyota gather here with others to pray for traffic safety. The temple is famous for its cherry blossoms, with about 300 cherry trees that bloom as late as late April or early May.

Yasujiro Ozu Memorial HouseMugeisou
Mugeiso is a thatched-roof mountain villa in Pool Taira, Tateshina. Master filmmaker Yasujiro Ozu worked and entertained guests here in his later years. It is open to the public free of charge during film festivals.

Kita-Yatsugatake Ropeway
100-seat ropeway cars carry you from the foot of the mountain, at an elevation of 1,800 m, all the way up to the summit at just under 2,400 m above sea level, with an impressive view of the Northern and Central Alps. Tsuboniwa Nature Park, at the summit, features alpine plants. During the winter, the summit station transforms into a dynamic ski resort with a 4-km downhill run.

Tateshina Lake
An artificial lake with a roughly 1-km circumference and surrounded by larch and birch trees typical of highland areas. On clear days, the area offers a panoramic view of Mt. Yatsugatake, and wonderful highland landscapes in each season. There is a sculpture park along the shore of the lake where you can come into contact with both nature and art amidst the natural beauty of the highlands. In September 2019, a new facility called Tiny Garden opened to provide a place to enjoy BBQ, beers under the blue sky, and closeness with the natural environment.
